SANtricity Storage Manager Software

 SANtricity is a client application for managing E-series storage arrays through in-band and out band management. Through this application user can configure disk sub-systems, protect the data and can maintain and monitor the status of disk sub-systems.

Disk subsystems are configured by creating LUN’s and mapping them to hosts. The data is protected through few add on features like snapshot creation, remote volume mirroring etc. and the status of disk sub-systems are monitored through different services and notified to user. The communication to storage array happens through proprietary RPC calls to server running on the array.

SANtricity Storage Manager Software (EMS) provides management functionality and a graphical representation of the E-Series storage, with an easy-to-use interface for customization and ongoing operations. SANtricity software enables storage administrators to achieve maximum performance and utilization of their storage through custom performance tuning, extensive configuration flexibility and  and a variety of replication options. This distinctive combination is especially important in high-performance environments with varying and often drastically different workloads and performance demands. SANtricity application supports both Out-Of-Band and In-Band management.

SANtricity software allows continuous access to user data during administrative tasks, including configuration, reconfiguration, expansion and maintenance of the system. SANtricity software also lowers storage management costs through centralized management, run-anywhere flexibility, a common interface across all operating systems and fully-integrated premium features.

SMServer is the web based version of Santricity product for administering NetApp E-Series storage systems. With the browser the client can launch the Enterprise Management Window. It is built to achieve scalable management supporting huge number of storage arrays. It adds features like tagging, Mass operations, Large scale reporting, Rapid setup of large number of systems, Secure communication etc. After the user logs in, User can view all the discovered storage arrays, their health conditions, the event monitor status and the ASUP status and control. Different arrays can be tagged and mass operations can be performed on them.
